Women who extorted over 200 million won from YouTuber Ziyang (Park Jung-won, 28) have been sentenced to a year in prison.

On the 18th, the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 12 (Judge Koo Chang-gyu) held a sentencing hearing for two women in their 30s, Ms. Kim and Ms. Song, who were indicted on charges of violating the Punishment of Violent Acts Act (joint extortion).

The prosecution requested that both Kim and Song be sentenced to a year in prison. Factors taken into account included their acknowledgment of the crime, expressions of remorse, and that they had reached an agreement with the victim.

The defense attorneys for the defendants pleaded for leniency from the court. They explained that the two returned 216 million won, which they extorted from Ziyang, plus an additional 40 million won as a settlement.

In their final statement, they said, "We thought the agency's representative would cover the extorted amount, so we lacked a sense of guilt," adding, "We deeply feel the enormous pain we caused to the victim."

Kim and Song are accused of threatening Ziyang and extorting a significant amount from her between June 2021 and November 2022. They allegedly intimidated her by hinting at the revelation of her past.

Ziyang stated last year, "The representative of my former agency (my ex-boyfriend) said that two women were 'threatening me.' They told me to pay them to keep quiet, and for two years, I gave them 216 million won."

Meanwhile, the sentencing for the two is scheduled for the 20th of next month.
