The movie 'Zombie Daughter' (directed by Pil Gam-seong) has surpassed 4 million viewers. According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticket sales system, 'Zombie Daughter' attracted 290,690 viewers on the 15th. The cumulative audience count stands at 4,048,804. This is the highest box office record of the year. After its release on the 30th of last month, it maintained the top spot at the box office for 17 consecutive days, establishing itself as a savior for summer theaters.
Compared to other hit films, this achievement came at a fast pace. It surpassed the record of 'Pilot' (directed by Kim Han-gyeol), which gathered 4.71 million viewers last year, five days earlier.
'Zombie Daughter' is set in a scenario where a zombie virus has spread, telling the story of a father struggling to protect his daughter who has turned into a zombie.
Meanwhile, Brad Pitt's 'F1: The Movie' (directed by Joseph Kosinski) secured the second place at the box office on the same day, with 140,919 viewers nationwide. Following that was 'The Devil Has Arrived' (directed by Lee Sang-geun), which attracted 73,878 viewers. Although it aimed to capitalize on the Liberation Day holiday, it failed to attract family audiences.
