The movie 'Zombie Daughter' (directed by Phil Kam-seong) has surpassed 2.2 million viewers. It reached the break-even point just seven days after its release.
According to the Integrated Computer Network for Movie Ticket Sales, 'Zombie Daughter' attracted a total of 2,201,62 viewers as of 6:40 PM on the fifth day.
The film was released on the 30th of last month and has ranked first at the box office for seven consecutive days. It is the fastest Korean film this year to exceed the break-even point.
Previously, it set records for the highest opening score of the year, the highest opening score for a Korean comedy film in history, and the quickest time to attract 1 million viewers this year.
It is expected to continue its success at the box office. As of 7:20 PM that day, the real-time reservation rate was 17.5%. Despite being a weekday, more than 100,000 people have made reservations to watch it.
'Zombie Daughter' is based on a popular webtoon and is a human comedy film about a father (played by Jo Jung-seok) who undergoes secret training to protect his daughter, who has turned into a zombie.
It is receiving praise as a quintessential family film, noted for capturing both laughter and emotion. Particularly, the comic performances by actors Jo Jung-seok, Lee Jung-eun, Jo Yeo-jeong, Yoon Kyung-ho, and Choi Yoo-ri have driven its success.
