SBS dramas, variety shows, and documentaries will be available on Netflix. The two companies have signed a content supply agreement.
SBS and Netflix entered into a strategic partnership at the SBS Broadcasting Center in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul on the 20th. SBS will provide its content to Netflix.
The plan is to create the best synergy. SBS aims to expand its global competitiveness. Netflix hopes to attract more subscribers.
This partnership will continue for six years starting January 1st next year. New and existing dramas, variety shows, and documentaries from SBS will be available to Netflix members in Korea.
Some new dramas will be released simultaneously worldwide. These will include works scheduled for the latter half of next year. Netflix has promised large-scale marketing.
SBS President Moon Seong-hwan stated, "This agreement is based on SBS's future strategy" and that "the partnership will contribute to the globalization of K-content."
