Yoon Seok-yeol's Impeachment Hearing Application Exceeds 90,000
As the impeachment ruling of President Yoon Seok-yeol approaches just one day away, the number of applications from the general public to attend the Constitutional Court session has surpassed 90,000. This sets a new record for the highest number of attendance applications in the history of impeachment hearings.

According to the Constitutional Court, as of 9 AM on the 3rd, there were 90,000 applications for online attendance for President Yoon's impeachment hearing. Only 20 seats are available for public attendance, resulting in a competition ratio of 4,500 to 1.
On the 1st, the Constitutional Court announced the schedule for President Yoon's impeachment ruling and decided to allow live broadcasting by media outlets along with public attendance.
As a result, a large number of people flocked to apply, with the number of people waiting to connect reaching around 90,000. Applications for attendance will be accepted until 5 PM on the 3rd, and the results of the lottery will be announced individually via text message on mobile phones. On the day of the ruling, only those who applied online in advance will be allowed to enter the courthouse for safety reasons.

In the past, during the impeachment hearing of former President Roh Moo-hyun, the competition ratio for attendance was 20 to 1, while for former President Park Geun-hye, it was 769 to 1. In the case of President Yoon's hearing, the previous online application competition ratio for the preparation procedure last year was already recorded at 2,251.5 to 1.
The Constitutional Court will hold the ruling on President Yoon's impeachment on the 4th at 11 AM at the Constitutional Court’s Grand Chamber in Jongno-gu, Seoul. This comes approximately 122 days after the declaration of a state of emergency last year and about 111 days since President Yoon was impeached, as well as roughly 38 days since the court concluded the arguments and entered into deliberation.
If the Constitutional Court upholds the impeachment with the support of at least six of the total judges, President Yoon will be immediately removed from office. Conversely, if the impeachment is dismissed or rejected, President Yoon will immediately return to his duties.
