“Yoon, who removed his coat to regulate body temperature, is he an ‘ectotherm’?… A fierce attack from Choo Mi-ae”

Yoon Seok-yeol's Explanation of 'Temperature Regulation' Strongly Criticized by Rep. Choo Mi-ae

Former President Yoon Seok-yeol faced strong criticism from Rep. Choo Mi-ae of the Democratic Party after he claimed that he was not wearing a prison uniform during the Special Prosecutor’s attempt to arrest him on the 1st because it was for "temperature regulation."

Rep. Choo criticized, "Is he a cold-blooded animal?"

On the 2nd, Rep. Choo pointed out on her Facebook that "humans are warm-blooded animals," raising her voice in criticism by asking, "Does this mean he is a cold-blooded animal that when the Special Prosecutor reads the warrant, his temperature goes up, and when his lawyer calls him into the visiting room, his temperature goes down?" This was a direct rebuttal to the explanation from former President Yoon’s side.

Previously, Yoon's legal team explained the so-called 'underwear arrest refusal' controversy by saying, "The interior of the holding cell was so hot that it could lead to a temperature regulation disorder due to poor ventilation." They also clarified that "due to the potential damage to the autonomic nervous system from diabetes, he occasionally took off the prison uniform even in usual circumstances, and it was understood in the detention center."

Special Prosecutor’s Arrest Attempt and Human Rights Violation Controversy

Rep. Choo also strongly rebutted Yoon's claim that “the Special Prosecutor invaded his human rights by bringing a camera.” He argued, "Even if he wasn’t wearing a prison uniform due to the heat, isn't there a certain level of courtesy required to wear it when the Special Prosecutor enters with an official arrest warrant?” He stated, "He has thrown away his own human rights."

Additionally, Rep. Choo mentioned the fact that he had filed for discipline against Yoon, who was then the Attorney General during her tenure as Minister of Justice, questioning, "What would those prosecutors who protested by putting their names on a petition be thinking now?"

He urged the prosecutors for "collective awakening."

Meanwhile, the Minjung-ki Special Investigation Team, which is investigating various allegations against Kim Geon-hee, attempted to execute an arrest warrant for former President Yoon on the 1st but failed.

The Special Investigation Team explained, "The suspect (former President Yoon) firmly resisted arrest while lying on the floor without even wearing a prison uniform," adding, "We refrained from using physical force due to safety concerns and ultimately suspended the arrest execution."

In response, former President Yoon's side strongly protested, claiming, "The Special Prosecutor rather attempted forced entry into the living area of an inmate while he was not wearing a prison uniform and even took photos with a camera." They further emphasized, "When the lawyer requested to consult with him as he was waiting, this request was ignored on the grounds that the power of attorney had not been received,” asserting, “This can only be regarded as a blatant violation of human rights disguised as compliance with legal procedures."
