Yoon undergoing ‘arrest warrant’ review at 2:15 PM… When will the conclusion come out?

172 Days After the First Arrest Warrant Review… "Conclusion Tonight"

Former President Yoon Suk-yeol, who is under investigation for charges of insurrection and foreign exchange offenses, is undergoing his second detention warrant review.

The hearing for the former president’s warrant will take place on the 9th at 2:15 PM at the Seoul Central District Court, presided over by Chief Judge Nam Se-jin.

Having been on trial without detention, he returns to court 172 days after his first warrant review at the Seoul Western District Court in January, and 123 days after being released from the Seoul Detention Center.

This warrant was requested not by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials but by the special prosecutor team led by Cho Eun-seok.

"Allegations of Abuse of Power and the Creation of False Martial Law Declaration"

Former President Yoon is accused of convening only some cabinet members during the pre-martial law Cabinet meeting, thereby obstructing the deliberation and voting rights of other ministers.

He is also charged with creating a false martial law declaration to correct defects in the initial declaration and ordering the deletion of sensitive phone records of key military officials to the National Security Office.

The special prosecutor team requested the warrant on the 6th, stating, "The crime is serious, and there are concerns about flight and evidence destruction."

"Yoon's Side is Likely to Emphasize Investigation Without Detention… Conclusion Late Tonight"

Former President Yoon will personally attend the hearing today. He emphasized the necessity of being tried without detention during his first warrant review in January, speaking for 40 minutes, and is expected to vigorously argue the unfairness of the special prosecutor’s investigation this time as well.

If the warrant is issued, the former president, who was released after being detained on charges of insurrection, will be held in detention again after four months.

Given the gravity of the matter and the numerous contentious issues, the decision on detention is expected to be made late tonight or early tomorrow morning.
