Yoon Seok-youl: “I’ll willingly leave the party if it helps the election, but my supporters will leave if I do.”

Yoon: "If I win the election, I will leave the party"

Former President Yoon Seok-yeol is reported to be willing to leave the People Power Party.

On the 16th, MBN reported that former President Yoon said, "If it helps in winning the election, I will gladly leave the People Power Party." According to the report, former President Yoon is showing a positive stance towards leaving the party, but he is also concerned that his departure may lead to supporters leaving as well.

A key figure from the former government reported to the media, "Former President Yoon said he would sacrifice everything for election victory."

Regarding former President Yoon's potential departure, People's Power candidate Kim Moon-soo stated, "It is the judgment of the President himself," expressing that whether he leaves should be decided by former President Yoon himself.

Candidate Kim added, "It is not right for our party to forcefully tell former President Yoon to leave or stay," and elaborated, "If there is a fault on former President Yoon's part, it is something the party shares responsibility for."

With the presidential election just over 20 days away, former People's Power representative Han Dong-hoon urged candidate Kim to 'disconnect' from former President Yoon and his wife.

On that day, Han posted on his Facebook, "A decision is needed to turn the situation around," and stated, "Candidate Kim Moon-soo's decision is necessary before the presidential candidate debate on May 18."

He continued, "I know that candidate Kim values personal loyalty, but leaning towards personal loyalty rather than public justice is not the attitude of someone working in the public sphere."

Currently, there have been some calls within the People Power Party for former President Yoon to leave, but candidate Kim maintains his position, saying, "It is a matter for former President Yoon himself to judge."
