“Yoon Appeals for ‘Real Name Crisis,’ Visiting Hospital in Anyang… ‘Captured in a Wheelchair’”

Visit to Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital's Ophthalmology… Early Morning Consultation for Two Consecutive Days

Former President Yoon Suk-yeol has made his first public appearance since his re-arrest. A scene capturing him going to receive ophthalmology treatment at a major hospital while relying on a wheelchair has been revealed.

On the morning of the 14th, former President Yoon visited the ophthalmology department of Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province for a consultation.

This visit took place for the second consecutive day at the same time as the previous day. Video footage captured by MBN News shows him in a blue detention outfit, wearing a mask and a knee blanket, being assisted by staff as he moved in a wheelchair.

The Ministry of Justice explained that his arrival one hour before the start of the consultation was a measure to separate his movement from that of regular patients.

Claims of Deteriorating Health… Controversy Over 'Risk of Blindness'

The side of former President Yoon has claimed escalating health issues, refusing to comply with all procedures related to trials, special investigation summons, and compulsory arrests.

His legal team emphasized that former President Yoon has been unable to undergo treatment due to diabetic retinopathy and has been diagnosed with a 'risk of blindness.' On the 12th, he applied for a consultation at Seoul National University Hospital, but the detention center rejected it, stating that "it is not a hospital within the facility," and it has since been reported that the consultation was rescheduled to Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital, a university hospital within the facility.

Ministry of Justice Investigates Possible Favoritism… Change of Detention Center Head

Meanwhile, following the controversy over former President Yoon's external medical consultations, the Ministry of Justice replaced the head of the Seoul Detention Center and initiated an investigation into the overall process of consultations and visits while in detention. They have decided to prohibit one-on-one visits, which have been a point of contention.

Next week, the trial regarding charges of obstruction of arrest filed by special prosecutor Jo Eun-seok's team is set to begin.

However, considering former President Yoon's health condition, the likelihood of his attendance in court appears low. His side continues to stress the necessity of periodic ophthalmological treatment, stating, "The risk of blindness cannot be prevented without regular external consultations."
