The funeral of the late former lawmaker of the People Power Party, Jang Je-won, was set up on the 2nd at the VIP room of Haeundae Baek Hospital in Busan, leading to a stream of condolences from ruling party officials.
At the funeral, Jang's son, Jun-yong (rapper Noel), and his wife welcomed visitors with sadness.

President Yoon Suk-yeol expresses sorrow, saying, "It is truly heartbreaking."
On this day, Jeong Jin-seok, the Presidential Chief of Staff, visited the funeral and conveyed President Yoon Suk-yeol's condolences to the bereaved family.
After offering his condolences, he told reporters, “Yesterday morning, President Yoon Suk-yeol received the news and called me, saying ‘It is truly unfortunate and heartbreaking.’”
Jeong added, “(The President) said, ‘I would like you to go to the funeral in my place and convey my deep condolences to the bereaved family.’ He called me twice yesterday, repeatedly expressing how heartbreaking this is.”

At the funeral, major figures from the People Power Party, including the party’s floor leader Kwon Seong-dong, Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon, Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, National Assembly Vice Chairman Joo Ho-young, and lawmaker Na Kyung-won, as well as about 30 other members of the National Assembly from Busan attended to offer their condolences.
Former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min was also reported to be one of the first current and former lawmakers to visit the funeral to express his sorrow.

Meanwhile, Jang Je-won served as a member of the National Assembly in the 18th, 20th, and 21st terms. After Yoon Suk-yeol was elected President in the 2022 presidential election, he acted as chief secretary to the president-elect and was known as a close aide to President Yoon in political activities.
However, amid demands for reform regarding pro-Yoon figures, he announced on December 12, 2023, his intention not to run in the general elections, stepping down from active politics.
Recently, he was under police investigation for allegedly sexually assaulting his secretary A during his time as the vice president of a university in Busan. He was found dead in an officetel in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, the evening before the victim's press conference, on the 31st of last month.
