Worker's Neck Caught in Cooling Machine… Unconscious at the Time of Accident
A worker at a production facility of 'Ourhome,' a food company well-known for its home meal replacements (HMR), suffered a horrific industrial accident. The affected worker was transported to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest and is reported to have not regained consciousness as of now.
According to police and fire authorities on the 5th, the incident occurred around 11:20 AM on the 4th at the Ourhome factory located in Namsa-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi Province. A male worker in his 30s, identified as A, was found with his neck caught in a cooling machine while working inside the factory.
The company immediately reported the incident to 119, and upon receiving the alert that "a person is caught in the cooling machine," the fire department quickly dispatched a team. When the paramedics arrived on the scene and rescued A, he was already in cardiac arrest. A was transferred to a nearby hospital and is currently receiving treatment.
Police Focused on Investigation of Accident Causes… Potential Violations of Industrial Safety Law
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident by reviewing the closed-circuit (CC) TV footage and checking the operational status of the machine.
Investigators are also looking into whether safety protocols were properly followed within the workplace and whether the machine's automatic shutdown mechanism functioned as intended.
A police official stated, "Given the victim's condition is critical, we are verifying the cause of the accident and the presence of any negligence from multiple angles." Potential compliance with the Industrial Safety and Health Act will also be assessed based on the results of subsequent investigations.
