tvN's 'Wonkyung' team is easing the disappointment of the series ending by presenting a special story through a prequel. The Tving original series 'Wonkyung' (written by Lee Young-mi, directed by Kim Sang-ho) has confirmed a special broadcast on the 15th. The prequel 'Wonkyung: Fate of Dano' will be aired on the 17th at 10 PM.

'Wonkyung' concluded on the 11th. It is a historical drama depicting the passionate story of King Taejong Yi Bang-won and Queen Wongyeong. The series showcased the couple's narrative, from their fiery love in youth to intense conflicts.

According to Nielsen Korea, the final episode recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 6.6%. It ranked first in viewer ratings for its time slot for six consecutive weeks since the first broadcast. Cha Joo-young renewed her career-defining role as Queen Wongyeong.

'Fate of Dano' is a two-part series depicting the love story of the two protagonists who were lovers before becoming a couple during the late Goryeo period. It illustrates the fateful first meeting of 'Wonkyung' and 'Yi Bang-won', who shared the same dream before conquering the world.

The prequel, released on Tving on the 21st of last month, garnered much attention. It was released between Acts 1 and 2, enriching the couple's narrative.

The production team stated, "We prepared this special broadcast for the viewers who have shown warm affection toward 'Wonkyung' and for new viewers who have yet to experience the series."

Regarding the prequel, they added, "You can see their fateful first meeting and the beginnings of their shared dream at a glance," and hoped it would be a delightful time for viewers to revisit and overcome the ending's longing.

'Wonkyung: Fate of Dano' will air on Monday, the 17th at 10 PM on tvN. Episodes 1 and 2 are available on Tving.
