A 60-Year-Old Woman Who Murdered Her Ex-Husband Sentenced to 17 Years in Prison in Appeals Court
A 60-year-old woman who committed murder out of revenge for the humiliation she suffered from her ex-husband has been sentenced to a long prison term in the appeals court as well.
On the 19th, the Second Criminal Division of the Changwon Branch of the Busan High Court (Presiding Judge Heo Yang-yoon) announced that it upheld the 17-year prison sentence imposed by the lower court, dismissing the appeal of A, who was indicted on murder charges.

A was brought to trial for strangling her ex-husband B to death last June at a farm in Gimhae, Gyeongnam.
The couple maintained their marriage for about 10 years before divorcing in 2003 due to suspicions of infidelity on the part of the husband. However, even after the divorce, A continued to take care of various family matters and maintained a relationship where she would go back and forth to B's house.
Planned Revenge
The incident began in June 2023 when A learned that B was still in contact with the woman with whom he had an affair, which was the cause of their divorce.
Furious, A quarreled fiercely with B, and after a month of continuing her anger, B tied A to a bulldozer at his farm.

After being tied to the bulldozer for about an hour, A, feeling severely humiliated, was consumed by thoughts of revenge and hatred, and resolved to kill B.
She prepared for revenge for about a year, even attending a gym to build strength as part of her plan.
On the day of the crime, A sent a message to an acquaintance saying, "I think it’s time to end this, I have to return the humiliation," and then went to B’s farm.
While drinking alcohol in a container on the farm, A mentioned the time she was tied to the bulldozer in the past, urging him, "You should feel this too." Exhausted B responded, "Do whatever you want," and allowed her to tie his hands.

Afterward, A refused B’s demands to loosen his hands and, after a struggle, strangled him to death.
The first trial court stated, “Considering that the defendant was not forgiven by the bereaved family, including the children, that she committed this crime during the probation period for drug offenses, and that her mental and physical health condition was not good, we decided on the sentence,” and sentenced her to 17 years in prison.
A appealed the first-instance ruling, claiming that the sentence was too harsh, but the appeals court dismissed the appeal, stating that the sentence from the lower court did not exceed a reasonable range.
