Q. How do you feel about releasing your first solo album after 10 years of debut?
As it’s an album completed with deep contemplation on the stories I want to tell, I hope it will soon reach the outside world. Although there are some feelings of regret, I prepared it with my best effort.
Q. Please introduce what kind of album the first mini-album is.
As it is my first solo album, it’s an album where I wanted to showcase my diverse musical colors. I hope you feel my new aspects while listening to each track. It’s also special to me and ReVeluvs because I can officially present ‘Ka-Ching’ and ‘I Feel Pretty’, which the fans have been eagerly waiting for a long time.
Q. Please introduce the title track and point out some viewing points.
The title track ‘Like A Flower’ is a pop dance song with a message of having the courage to beautifully bloom like a flower with vitality. The viewing point is the performance. Please watch the energy created by me and the dancers.
Q. You challenged various genres for this album. Which song do you like the most?
I like ‘Summer Rain’ the most. I can’t forget the somewhat heart-wrenching emotion I felt the first time I heard it. I hope ReVeluvs will like it a lot too.
Q. You challenged a different styling in the album jacket and music video, is there any memorable moment?
I like the outfit shot by the water the most, and I most remember the moments in the water. I needed more courage as I had to do it alone, and it was a moment where I had to have the strongest will of “Let’s do it!”
Q. What part did you focus on the most while preparing the performance for this album?
I focused the most on harmony with the dancers. They make my performance more complete, but I hoped it felt like a team that supports each other with the same emotion, energy, and thought.
Q. How did the Red Velvet members support you as you prepared for your solo debut?
Most of the members have gone solo, so they empathized the most and understood my worries. I was very thankful. I thought members were amazing in how they did their solo activities, and on the other hand, I also felt proud.
Q. What are your plans for this album’s activities and what goals do you want to achieve?
Firstly, it is to wrap up the music broadcasts well. Rather than having a specific goal, I just hope what I bring can be something ReVeluvs can look back at once in a while while living.
Q. With Red Velvet’s 10th anniversary and your first solo album, what kind of year will 2024 be for Irene?
It seems like a very precious year, 2024. It will be a memorable year as a team, as a solo, and personally.
