Foreigners Caught Smoking at the Peak of Bukhansan
Foreigners have been spotted smoking and throwing cigarette butts at the peak of Bukhansan, a national park, causing controversy.
This incident was reported on JTBC's "Incident Reports" on the 1st.
A witness reported that on the 31st of last month, while climbing Bukhansan with his girlfriend, he observed a group of foreigners climbing noisily with loud music playing.

These foreigners gathered at the peak of Bukhansan, Baegundae, and were smoking. When the witness warned them not to smoke, they responded with a smile saying "Okay" but continued to smoke.
Additionally, despite the witness warning them not to litter cigarette butts, they only replied and disposed of the butts anywhere.

The witness assumed that they were Russian. He mentioned that while descending, he contacted the relevant agency of Bukhansan National Park, but was shocked to hear from the official that "foreigners cannot be punished for smoking in the mountains."
However, after inquiries from "Incident Reports" to the Bukhansan National Park officials, it was confirmed that both nationals and foreigners can be punished for smoking in the national park, as officials can check passports or foreign registration cards.
