The appearance of a hand mirror and balloons at Lee Jae-myung's campaign rally caught the public's attention.

On the 13th, while the candidate was visiting Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province (TK), known as the heart of conservatism, a three-layer protective shield involving police, the Democratic Party, and supporters was put into action.

Recent reports of assassination and terrorist threats, including the smuggling of high-performance sniper rifles over a distance of 2 km, had been coming in.

The police deployed a special police unit to buildings near the rally site, while close protection personnel prepared for potential threats from 'terrorists' using binoculars.

The Democratic Party also provided its own security personnel to protect the surroundings of the candidate.

In response to the party's request to "protect Lee Jae-myung," the supporters came out holding blue balloons and hand mirrors.

The balloons and hand mirrors were part of the Democratic Party's counter-terrorism measures; shaking numerous balloons would interfere with any potential terrorist aiming, and reflecting light with the hand mirrors was intended to obstruct the sniper's line of sight.

In fact, images were captured of supporters holding mirrors and reflecting them toward surrounding buildings.

The use of balloons has been noted to be effective during the campaign of former U.S. President Donald Trump. After Trump was shot at during a campaign event, his security team deployed balloons along with bulletproof shields to mitigate the threat.

An official from the campaign committee explained that the balloons and hand mirrors brought by supporters were "prepared voluntarily by the supporters."

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party established a task force for responding to terrorism and a candidate safety office staffed with former police officials, with Kim Min-seok appointed as the head on the 10th.

They are also reportedly considering the introduction of large balloons to obstruct the sniper's line of sight and bulletproof glass to protect the campaign stage.

On the online party member bulletin board, there have been requests for the installation of transparent bulletproof glass or movable screens, operation of drones for aerial surveillance, and a selfie ban to minimize citizen access.
