In contrast, Wednesday had the lowest number of annual leave registrations, with 480,050 cases (14.2%). The Shiftie team analyzed this phenomenon, stating, "Employees tend to plan their vacations in connection with the weekend rather than during the weekday." This indicates a clear preference for weekend-linked vacations among employees.

Monthly Annual Leave Usage and Summer Vacation Patterns

Looking at monthly annual leave usage, December had the highest number of vacation registrations, accounting for 12.7% of the total at 436,677 cases.

Following December, August accounted for a significant portion with 357,402 cases (10.4%), demonstrating a clear trend of concentrated leave usage during year-end and summer vacation periods.

A detailed analysis of the 895,589 cases of annual leave registered during the summer vacation season from June to August reveals interesting insights.

During this period, August accounted for the highest leave usage at 39.1%, followed by July (33.5%) and June (27.4%). Notably, the third week of August, which includes Liberation Day, saw a spike in leave usage, reflecting a vacation strategy utilizing the holiday for a bridge holiday.

In addition to the third week of August, the first and second weeks of August, as well as the first week of June, also recorded high vacation usage.

Shin Seung-won, CEO of Shiftie, emphasized, "Providing sufficient recharge time through flexible vacation usage is a means to enhance both employee work efficiency and job satisfaction." He further added that "implementing a workforce management solution not only facilitates easy vacation applications and approvals but also allows for the establishment of vacation policies tailored to the company's situation based on vacation usage data and the development of workforce operation plans."
