A drowning accident involving a 7-year-old child occurred at a river near a camping site in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province.
According to a report by JTBC on the 29th, on the 28th at approximately 5:25 PM, a 7-year-old boy, referred to as A, fell into the river while trying to retrieve a ball that was floating away. He was swept away by the rapid current.

Upon hearing the news of the accident, the camping site owner immediately ran to the scene with a floatation device, and firefighters who received the report quickly rushed to the location with rescue equipment.
A representative from the camping site relayed to JTBC, “We were searching for the child in the water on a tube for about 10 minutes after hearing that one child was missing.”

About 10 minutes after the report, A was found by the rescue team at a depth of 3 meters but was immediately transported to the hospital, where he ultimately passed away.
