Sisters who died in a fire in Busan, 7-year-old younger sister also eventually passed away

A fire broke out in an apartment in Busan while the parents were away for work, leading to the death of a 10-year-old child, and after receiving treatment in the hospital, the 7-year-old younger sister also eventually passed away.

Despite their sorrow, the parents decided to donate their daughter's organs.

According to the Busan Jin Police Station on the 25th, the 7-year-old girl, who fell into a critical condition due to the fire at an apartment in Gaegum-dong, Busanjin-gu on the 24th, passed away in the hospital that morning.

The police and family have decided to proceed with the funeral arrangements for the deceased girl without an autopsy.

Parents decided to share new life through organ donation

The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education announced that the parents of the sisters decided to donate the organs of their 7-year-old daughter.

The noble choice made by the parents, who decided to save the lives of others amidst their deep sorrow, has saddened those around them.

The fire occurred on the 24th at around 4:15 a.m. on the 4th floor of an apartment in Gaegum-dong, Busanjin-gu.

Fire authorities responded to reports from residents of the apartment and extinguished the fire within 20 minutes, but the 10-year-old and 7-year-old sisters who were sleeping inside the house were affected.

The 10-year-old sister died on the spot from carbon monoxide poisoning, and the 7-year-old younger sister was in cardiac arrest when she was taken to the hospital but ultimately passed away.

At the time of the incident, the parents were out of the house for early morning cleaning work.

It was determined that the fire broke out shortly after the parents left home around 4 a.m.

Based on a joint investigation conducted by relevant agencies the day before, the fire is suspected to have started near the outlet connected to the power cords of electronic devices, including a computer, in the living room.

Neighboring residents expressed their sorrow, stating that the deceased sisters were polite and kind children who grew up in a financially challenging situation.

Meanwhile, Busanjin-gu plans to support the bereaved family through initiatives such as the Hope Welfare Safety Network and strengthening social safety networks.
