Dangerous Dash of a Driverless Vehicle: From Rest Stop to Highway
A passenger car left unattended in neutral gear while refueling rolled down a slope and entered the highway, causing a five-vehicle pileup. Six people were injured in the accident.
According to the Chungnam Fire Headquarters and Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at 9:12 PM on the 23rd near the Beolgok Rest Area on the Honam Expressway in Nonsan, Chungcheongnam-do, where five vehicles collided in succession.

As a result of the accident, six individuals sustained minor injuries and are receiving treatment at a hospital, and fortunately, the police confirmed that there is no threat to their lives.
Major Accident Caused by Parking Negligence
The accident began at the rest stop's gas station. The driver of a Morning sedan left the vehicle stationary to refuel and went to the restroom, during which the unattended vehicle rolled down an inclined road. This created a dangerous situation as the driverless vehicle passed the rest area exit and entered the highway.
Once on the highway, the driverless Morning vehicle first collided with another sedan that was in motion, leading to a series of rear-end collisions involving three more vehicles.
The police are managing the accident site and investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident with the drivers and other related parties.
This accident serves as a reminder of how significant consequences can result from failing to follow parking safety regulations.
When parking a vehicle on an incline, it is essential to ensure the gear is in the park (P) position and the handbrake is engaged to implement necessary safety measures.
