Teen Arrested for Theft in Changwon Swimming Pool Changing Room

A teenager was arrested by the police for stealing cash from lockers in the changing room of an indoor swimming pool in Changwon.

The Changwon Jungbu Police Station announced on the 25th that a 19-year-old, referred to as A, was sent to the prosecution without detention on charges of theft.

A is suspected of stealing a total of 2 million won in cash over four incidents that occurred in the male changing room of the indoor swimming pool in Changwon from March 27 to April 14.

The method of operation involved first stealing the keys to the lockers in the changing room, then using them to open the lockers and take the cash.

Investigation Process and Motive for the Crime

As incidents of locker theft occurred repeatedly at the swimming pool, the police formed a dedicated investigation team and commenced a thorough investigation. They successfully arrested A recently by employing scientific investigative techniques such as CCTV analysis.

The investigation revealed that A committed the crimes to obtain pocket money since he had been living without a steady job after graduating from school.

Notably, A did not spend the stolen cash but instead deposited it directly into his account.

A police official stated, "Public facilities such as indoor swimming pools are always at risk of theft, and it is not easy to apprehend perpetrators due to the large number of users." He urged individuals to avoid carrying valuables or cash, and to keep locker keys on their person in order to manage personal belongings with special care.
