What if Lee Jae-myung’s soul changes like in a drama? A response to the “Kim Moon-soo vs. Han Dong-hoon” balance game.

Lee Jae-myung Discusses Development Plans for K-Content Industry in Meeting with Cultural and Artistic Figures

Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, met with notable figures in the cultural and artistic sectors, including Kim Eun-sook, writer of the drama <The Glory>, and Park Hae-young, writer of <My Mister>.

During the meeting on the 7th, the candidate revealed that he is considering the introduction of a unified online video service (OTT) platform and a school for nurturing writers to enhance the capabilities of domestic cultural content. This is seen as a step to materialize the national vision 'K-Initiative' that he announced during his declaration of candidacy last month.

Directors Yoon Je-kyoon, known for films <Ode to My Father> and <Haeundae>, and Jeong Joo-ri, director of <Next Sohee>, as well as writers Kim Eun-sook of <The Glory> and <Goblin>, and Park Hae-young of <My Mister> and <My Liberation Notes>, were present.

At the meeting, the candidate emphasized the importance of strengthening domestic OTT platforms and nurturing writers to activate the content industry. He stated, "There is a tendency to become dependent on foreign OTT platforms," and added, "We need to create a unified OTT platform that can compete with Netflix and Disney+ in Korea." Kim Eun-sook responded by saying, "We are also discussing it," expressing her agreement.

Moreover, the candidate proposed measures to protect creators in the age of AI, suggesting that fees should be paid or restrictions imposed when AI learns or trains on creative works. He highlighted the need for policies by stating, "We are considering establishing a writer training school to cultivate talents based on cultural fields."

Kim Eun-sook asked the candidate which political leader he would want to swap souls with if given the chance, to which he replied, "I would choose Candidate Kim Moon-soo," expressing a desire to understand his thoughts. When Kim Eun-sook said she would find it interesting to swap with Candidate Han Dong-hoon, the candidate responded, "Not really," adding, "I don't want to swap souls." He went on to share his emotional experience regarding the recently watched drama <The Great Deception>.

Having declared his candidacy for the presidency on October 10, the candidate has expressed his ambition to lead the world with soft power under the banner of 'K-Initiative' as part of his national vision.

He further explained that the K-Initiative aims to identify areas where South Korea can take a leading role in the world. At a 'K-Content Company Meeting' held in Daegu, he emphasized that the cultural industry is a key element in job creation and expressed his determination to make it a cornerstone of growth.
