**Comprehensive Inspection of Accommodation, Food, and Service Charges at Vacation Destinations**
In response to the rampant overcharging at nationwide vacation spots such as beaches and valleys during the summer vacation season, the government and local authorities have launched an all-out effort to eradicate this issue.
On the 10th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and local governments announced that they are operating a "Special Overcharging Countermeasure Period" from the 1st to the 31st of this month, and are strengthening joint inspections and on-site responses focused on major vacation spots across the country.

This inspection targets areas such as dining and accommodation fees, as well as service charges for beach amenities. Immediate corrective actions will be taken if prices are not displayed or if charges have been inflated through collusion.
Some local governments have introduced a "QR Code-Based Overcharging Reporting System" that allows tourists to easily report issues on-site using their smartphones. Additionally, mobile response teams are operating to provide immediate action and guidance on-site.
The overcharging reporting center, which was temporarily operational during the vacation season, will be extended until the end of November this year. Reports received through various channels such as general civil complaints and media coverage will also be processed swiftly.
**Revealing the True Face of Vacation Spots: Cases from Ulleungdo and Sokcho**
Recently, in Ulleungdo, a controversy over “pork belly with bones” emerged through a YouTube channel, alongside a case where a taxi fare for a distance of 20,000 won exceeded 50,000 won, causing public outrage. In Sokcho's squid street market, a restaurant hurried diners to finish their meals less than ten minutes after food was served, leading to a cessation of its operations.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to strengthen crackdowns on unfair practices such as excessive price increases through a joint inspection team composed of price monitoring personnel, and will collaborate with relevant departments to address illegal installation of resting areas and unlicensed business operations in valleys.
Han Soon-ki, Director of the Local Finance and Economy Bureau at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, emphasized, “We will thoroughly respond to ensure that overcharging does not take root, meticulously examine living prices on-site, and quickly implement necessary measures.”
