Police Block a Vehicle Driving in the Wrong Direction in the City Center
The story of police preventing a safety incident after discovering a driver driving in the wrong direction in a state of unconsciousness has recently been reported.
According to the Seongdong Police Station on the 9th, Officer Hwang Sang-won (36), who is affiliated with the Oksoo Patrol Station, spotted a vehicle driving approximately 100 meters in the wrong direction on a four-lane road in Oksoo-dong, Seongdong-gu, at around 9 a.m. on the 1st.
At the time, while conducting a patrol on the opposite road, Officer Hwang used flashing lights and a siren to manage traffic and positioned his vehicle to block the wrong-way driver's path.
After blocking the vehicle, Officer Hwang felt something was off when the driver did not respond, prompting him to break the car window with an emergency escape tool to open the door.

An investigation revealed that the driver was in a state of unconsciousness, and it was determined that there were no signs of alcohol consumption or other criminal activity.
The driver was reported to have undergone surgery on their head several years ago and has been receiving recovery treatment since then.
Thanks to Officer Hwang's quick judgment, no significant damage occurred at the accident scene that day.
Seongdong Police Chief Seo Gi-yong stated, "Thanks to the swift and calm on-site response, we were able to safely prevent a crisis that could have led to multiple casualties," and added, "We will continue to do our best in on-site responses for citizen protection."
