A professor who attempted to extort 100 million won by threatening to leak a recording of the sexual assault of his graduate student has been indicted.

On the 28th, the Daegu District Prosecutor's Office for Women's and Children's Crimes (Chief Prosecutor Choi Hee-jung) prosecuted a former university professor in his 60s, identified as A, on charges of sexual assault against a graduate student under his supervision.

A is accused of sexually assaulting graduate student B multiple times under the pretext of guiding her doctoral dissertation from 2021 to 2022.

Additionally, it has been revealed that A attempted to extort 100 million won from B by threatening to distribute a recording of the assault.

As a result, A was dismissed from the university in 2022.

A prosecution official stated, "Considering the seriousness of the crime, given the superior position and power of a supervising professor, we decided to prosecute him."
