Unable to control wheelchair, pushed through screen door and fell onto tracks… Sinrim Line suspended for over an hour.

Suspension of Train Operations at Saetgang Station due to Wheelchair Fall Accident on Sillim Line

A citizen in a powered wheelchair fell onto the tracks at Saetgang Station on the Sillim Line in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.

As a result, all train operations on the Sillim Line were temporarily suspended and resumed after approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.

According to Namseoul Light Rail, the incident occurred around 4:40 PM on the 7th at the lower platform of Saetgang Station while a citizen was waiting for the train in a powered wheelchair. The citizen reportedly lost control of the wheelchair and pushed the screen door, leading to the fall onto the tracks due to the impact.

Immediately following the accident, train operations were halted across the entire Sillim Line, and fortunately, the fallen citizen was rescued while conscious and transported to a nearby hospital.

The individual has sustained injuries but is reported to be out of life-threatening condition.

Namseoul Light Rail took prompt action after the incident, and at 5:56 PM, officially announced, "The fall incident has been resolved, and all train operations will resume."

As a result, the train operations on the Sillim Line, which had been suspended for about 1 hour and 20 minutes, returned to normal.
