Supporters Infuriated by Former President Yoon Seok-youl's Impeachment Decision Arrested for Damaging Police Bus

Shortly after the Constitutional Court made the decision to impeach former President Yoon Seok-youl, an enraged supporter was arrested for damaging a police bus with a baton.

According to the police on the 4th, around 11:28 AM, shortly after the Constitutional Court's decision to impeach former President Yoon, a man swung a baton and broke the windows of a police bus near Exit 5 of Anguk Station.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the man was wearing various protective gear, including a helmet and gas mask, and that bystanders attempted to dissuade him from his sudden outburst.

The police quickly recognized the situation and tracked down the individual, referred to as Mr. A, arresting him as a flagrant offender. They plan to investigate the case in accordance with the offense of damaging public property.

Reactions of Supporters to the Impeachment Decision

Upon hearing the news of the Constitutional Court's impeachment ruling, supporters of former President Yoon expressed their anger and grief throughout the area.

On that morning, about 10,000 supporters, including the National Coalition Against Impeachment gathered in front of the President's residence in Hannam-dong, erupted in outrage, shouting phrases such as "Is this a country?" and "This is insane."

Some supporters were seen throwing placards that read "Impeachment Invalid" onto the ground, while others broke down in tears, lamenting, "What will happen to our President?"

On that day, the Constitutional Court unanimously impeached President Yoon Seok-youl. Acting Chief Justice Moon Hyung-bae read the order of impeachment around 11:22 AM, stating, "We impeach President Yoon Seok-youl."

The effect of the impeachment was immediate, resulting in President Yoon losing his position. This came 123 days after he declared a state of emergency on December 3 and 111 days after the impeachment motion was submitted to the court on December 14 of last year.

According to current laws, the acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo must ensure a presidential election is held within 60 days.
