U.S. President Trump’s ‘eldest son’ Trump Jr. visits Korea… “Invited by Chairman Jeong Yong-jin”

Donald Trump Jr. to Visit South Korea at Invitation of Chairman Jung Yong-jin

Donald Trump Jr., the son of U.S. President Donald Trump, will visit South Korea next week at the invitation of Jung Yong-jin, the chairman of Shinsegae Group. This visit marks his first trip to South Korea since the launch of the Trump administration’s second term and coincides with the rising prominence of trade issues between South Korea and the U.S., drawing significant attention from the domestic business community.

On the 23rd, a Shinsegae Group representative stated, "Trump Jr. is scheduled to visit South Korea and meet with executives from major domestic companies at the invitation of Chairman Jung."

A Bridge Between the Trump Administration and the Business Community

This visit goes beyond mere friendship; it results from Chairman Jung's recent visit to Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, where he conveyed the sentiments of the domestic business community to Trump Jr. During this visit to the resort, where President Trump resides, Jung requested the need for economic cooperation between the U.S. and South Korea, which Trump Jr. accepted, leading to the confirmation of the schedule.

Trump Jr. is planning to have extensive contact with major business leaders, including heads of the top 10 conglomerates, during his stay. As of now, it has been reported that there are no official meetings scheduled with political figures.

Chairman Jung and Trump Jr. have maintained a close relationship, referring to each other as 'brother' and 'younger brother.' They reportedly share the same Protestant faith, further strengthening their bond. In December last year, Jung stayed at Mar-a-Lago for six days at Trump Jr.'s invitation, where he engaged in extensive discussions with then-President-elect Trump.

In January of this year, coinciding with President Trump's inauguration, Jung returned to the U.S. and continued to have broad exchanges with U.S. political and business figures, facilitated by Trump Jr.

This visit comes at a time when government channels to the U.S. have effectively been paralyzed following the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, highlighting the emerging role of private human networks. Trump Jr. is considered a key figure within the second Trump administration, and his visit is expected to create significant waves within the domestic business community.
