Tzuyang (real name Park Jung-won) and other YouTubers accused of extortion have been arrested.
On the 26th, Judge Son Chul of the Suwon District Court conducted a pre-trial detention hearing for Gyujeok (real name Lee Jun-hee) and Jujak Detector (real name Jeon Guk-jin).
Their charges include extortion, intimidation, and coercion. Judge Son issued the arrest warrants citing the severity of the charges and concerns over possible secondary harm.
Gyujeok sent an email to Tzuyang's side in February last year, attaching a YouTube link dealing with tax evasion allegations and mentioning another report, warning, "This is 100 times more serious."
During this process, the two are believed to have conspired together. They demanded not to reveal the matters involving Tzuyang’s ex-boyfriend and extorted 55 million won.
Jujak Detector admitted on his channel that he received the money, while Gyujeok denies the charges, claiming that Tzuyang's side requested risk management services.
Separately, Tzuyang's side has filed complaints against Gyujeok, Jujak Detector, Crime Research Institute, and an anonymous intimidator with the prosecution. If more participants in the extortion emerge, additional legal responses will be taken.
