The fierce confrontation between actors Park Hyung-sik and Heo Joon-ho has attracted a lot of OTT subscribers.

On the 10th, Wave announced, "SBS-TV's Treasure Island (written by Lee Myung-hee, directed by Jin Chang-kyu) has ranked first in new paid subscriptions for the weekend in its 7th week of airing."

According to Wave, Treasure Island led in new subscriptions during the survey conducted from the 4th to the 6th, with many subscribers signing up for the service to watch the show.

That's not all. The weekend broadcast set a new viewing time record (average weekend on Wave). It increased by 168% compared to the first weekend (February 21-23).

Treasure Island tells the story of Seo Dong-joo (played by Park Hyung-sik) who risks everything to take down the behind-the-scenes power player, Yeom Jang-seon (played by Heo Joon-ho), by hacking political slush funds.

It is on a rapid rise. The first episode recorded a viewership rating of 6.1% according to Nielsen Korea. It jumped to double digits (10.2%) in just four episodes, with the 14th episode showing a rating of 14.6%.

The combination of writing, directing, and acting has received high praise. The storytelling that pierces through human desires, trendy direction, and the performances of reliable actors have heightened the immersion.

Meanwhile, Treasure Island has only two episodes left until the final episode. The follow-up work is "Goiung" (written by Yoon Soo-jung, directed by Yoon Sung-sik).
