The author of the post, person A, detailed the situation they witnessed at a beach in Pohang on May 30.

According to A, due to a shortage of parking spaces, many people were struggling, while some car campers were seen occupying three parking spots to enjoy their camping experience.

In the released photos, these individuals are grilling and eating meat on the beach, completely disregarding the onlookers around them.

Concerns about the Negative Perception of Camping Culture

A expressed regret that the actions of a few inconsiderate car campers are tarnishing the reputation of responsible camping enthusiasts.

They stated, "It's embarrassing to call myself a camper when I see this behavior…" and expressed their anger over the situation.

Furthermore, A pointed out that such behavior leads to camping enthusiasts being mocked as 'car camping beggars', suggesting, "There should be a temporary job creation project for the elderly to monitor nonconforming car camping in Pohang."

Responses from netizens who saw A's post included comments like "Car campers without any sense of shame," "Please report for violating parking laws," "Really amazing," and "The height of audacity."

Meanwhile, on September 20, 2024, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport implemented an amendment to parking laws prohibiting camping, cooking, and making fires in public parking lots to address issues of parking shortages, noise, and littering.

Those caught camping or cooking in parking lots established by national agencies, local governments, public institutions, local corporations, and subsidiaries will face fines of 300,000 won for the first offense, 400,000 won for the second, and 500,000 won for the third offense or more.
