The second formal trial of former President Yoon Suk-yeol regarding the charge of insurrection will be held on the 21st at the Seoul Central District Court.
This trial is expected to be the first opportunity to publicly disclose photographs and videos of former President Yoon in court. The Seoul High Court has allowed entry through the underground parking lot; however, it seems that his entrance to the courtroom will not be exposed to the public.
Former President Yoon will travel to the courthouse by security vehicle from his residence in the Acro Vista in Seocho-dong, just as he did during the first trial.

During this trial, cross-examinations of Army Capital Defense Command’s 1st Guard Brigade Commander Chung Seong-hyun and Commander of the 1st Special Forces Brigade Kim Hyung-ki will take place. At the first trial, both the prosecution and former President Yoon's side presented their statements, followed by the prosecution's main interrogation of Commanders Chung and Kim.
Commander Chung had also testified during the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial and stated that he received orders to breach the National Assembly. In response, former President Yoon's side raised concerns regarding the selection of witnesses and the order of questioning, suspecting political intent from the prosecution. There is also interest in whether former President Yoon will speak directly. He led the arguments during the first trial, speaking for a total of 93 minutes.
The court plans to hear additional opinions from both sides and sort out issues regarding evidence and witness selection on that day.

Former President Yoon's side requested another preparation date to address procedural issues; however, the court stated it would discuss procedural matters after the cross-examinations of Commanders Chung and Kim.
This trial is expected to serve as a critical turning point in the case concerning former President Yoon's insurrection charges. In particular, how the witnesses’ testimonies unfold and the content of former President Yoon's statements are of keen interest. The outcome of the trial may significantly influence future political repercussions.
