Kim Na-jeong quickly deleted the post, but screenshots spread rapidly online. Some netizens reported Kim Na-jeong to the police. On the 12th, Kim Na-jeong returned to South Korea through Incheon International Airport from Manila, Philippines. She was immediately investigated for two hours by the Incheon International Airport Police.

The case was transferred to the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency. The police booked Kim Na-jeong without detention on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. They are investigating the circumstances of the drug use and the suppliers. Amid this situation, Kim Na-jeong’s side released a statement on the 18th. Kim Yeon-ki, a lawyer from Chungjeong Law Firm, explained the reason for the Philippine visit, the process of drug use, and the progress of the case.

Kim Na-jeong’s purpose for visiting the Philippines was to launch an underwear brand. She was introduced to a businessman born in 1995, referred to as Mr. A. They emphasized that rumors about sponsorship are not true. Kim Na-jeong had a drinking party with Mr. A.

She stated, “While intoxicated, my hands were tied and blindfolded by Mr. A. During this process, Mr. A exhaled smoke, forcing me to inhale it.” Lawyer Kim Yeon-ki added, “There is evidence to prove the coercion.” A video showing her hands tied and eyes blindfolded exists. He explained, “Mr. A used something like a ‘coffin’ to forcibly make her inhale smoke.”

During the police investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A is a wanted person. Kim Na-jeong said, “Mr. A is a fugitive who has committed multiple crimes and cannot currently return to Korea.” It is said that this was Kim Na-jeong’s first time using drugs. She clarified, “I have never used drugs multiple times as rumored. I’ve only been to the Philippines three times.”

She also clarified the SOS message on social media. “Kim Na-jeong made a video call asking for protection from the police for her safety. During the process, a person believed to be associated with Mr. A filmed a video while speaking to Mr. A and tracking Kim Na-jeong,” she claimed. It was an SOS for survival. “Kim Na-jeong confessed to using drugs to urgently ask for help, not to admit voluntary use,” she said.

Kim Na-jeong claimed that she was also threatened by Mr. A. “He said that if Kim Na-jeong exposed his existence, he would kill her and everyone around her.” Following the advice of the police, Kim Na-jeong has cut off contact with Mr. A. The police have provided her with a smart watch for victim protection. Kim Na-jeong was unable to submit victim videos or other evidence to the police.

She gave statements that did not match the facts due to worries that Mr. A might carry out his threats. She promised to speak only the truth in future investigations. Kim Na-jeong urged, “As a victim, I will now set everything right. Please refrain from making speculative assumptions.”
