“Thought It Was a Trump MAGA Hat”… Yoon Wearing ‘MKGA’ Hat Signals Full-fledged ‘Residence Politics’

Former President Yoon Seok-youl's New Beginning After Removal

The removed former President Yoon Seok-youl left the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan, Seoul, and moved to his private residence in Acro Vista, Seocho, Seoul. This occurred one week after the Constitutional Court's removal decision and 886 days after taking up residence in the official presidential residence post-election.

At 5:07 PM on the 11th, former President Yoon boarded a vehicle and began his departure from the residence. Outside the residence, presidential aides and members of the Presidential Security Service applauded as he was seen off.

Two minutes later, around 5:09 PM, former President Yoon got out of the vehicle in front of the main entrance of the residence, dressed in a suit, with his hair neatly styled, and approached supporters with a bright smile.

Wearing a red hat that read 'Make Korea Great Again,' former President Yoon's appearance evoked the iconic image of U.S. President Donald Trump. He shook hands and embraced young supporters while engaging in conversation, and some supporters were seen shedding tears of joy. The image of former President Yoon in the red hat reminded many of the symbolic image of U.S. President Donald Trump.

As he left the residence that day, former President Yoon greeted his supporters before boarding the vehicle without any additional message. He was captured waving his hand and clenching his fist out of the window, with First Lady Kim Kun-hee sitting beside him.

Subsequently, through his legal team, former President Yoon expressed, "Dear beloved citizens, I am leaving the official residence today. I am truly grateful for the past moments." He added, "The moments when I worked to protect our national interests and security flash through my mind like a film."

He further stated, "Now I will return as one of the citizens of the Republic of Korea, seeking a new path for the country and its people. For the Republic of Korea that you and I have dreamed of together, I will spare no effort, however small."

Some are expressing concerns that former President Yoon's statement about 'finding a new path' may imply his entry into private residence politics.

Meanwhile, it is anticipated that former President Yoon, currently residing in Seocho-dong, will prepare for the summons from investigative agencies, including a criminal trial for insurrection charges that will begin on the 14th.
