“The ‘Son Heung-min’s Threatener’ Claimed to Have Evidence and Said to the Broadcaster… ‘Clean Image. Eat X’”

"Can a national representative do such a thing?"…Tip-off to the broadcasting station

The man, identified as Mr. Yong, who threatened national football team captain Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur), reportedly called a broadcasting station directly about a month ago to provide a tip-off.

On the 16th, JTBC's 'Incident Control Room' revealed that Mr. Yong made a call to the broadcasting station on April 21 and released a recording of the conversation.

In the released recording, the man did not mention Son Heung-min’s real name but stated, "Currently a member of the football national team and playing in Europe," to convey the situation.

He continued, "I accidentally saw a screenshot on my girlfriend's phone," and claimed, "There were bank statements showing hundreds of millions of won being exchanged, a handwritten contract, and documents with thumbprints."

"Agency ignored me," demanding money…When rejected, 'exposure'

He added, "I asked my girlfriend what was going on, and she said there was an incident where a secret agreement was made after an abortion. It’s absurd that someone from the national team would do such a thing. They have a clean image in our country. Honestly, I tipped off just to bring them both down."

Mr. Yong also mentioned, "I had a conversation with the agency (representing Son Heung-min) regarding the non-disclosure agreement. That agreement had no expiration and lasted until death, with a compensation amount set at 3 billion won. So I requested a change in the agreement. But they rejected it, which led to my breakup with my girlfriend. I was worried about the potential harm it would cause me if the change didn’t happen. I wasn’t even asking for money; I just requested a revision of the agreement, but the agency said they would sue if it leaked."

However, despite his claim of not demanding money from Son Heung-min, he reportedly stated things like, "I tipped off the media" and "I have it all blocked for now, but if I speak, everything will come out," while allegedly demanding 70 million won.

Mr. Yong is said to have cut off contact when the production team of 'Incident Control Room' requested evidence regarding his claims.

Son Heung-min's side stated, "When trying to confirm the facts, they asked for money first."

Son Heung-min's side acknowledged dating the woman in 2023, but claimed that after she notified him of the pregnancy, she demanded 300 million won, saying, "There is no need to meet, just give me the money." Son Heung-min’s side indicated that they received a non-disclosure agreement and paid the 300 million won at that time.

Subsequently, the manager suffered from threats for several months before revealing the truth to Son Heung-min, who then decided to "no longer tolerate it and respond strongly," leading to the legal action.

Son Heung-min's side confirmed the relationship but reported that there are discrepancies between the timing of the pregnancy claimed by the woman and the statements made by Son Heung-min's representatives.

Meanwhile, on the 17th, Judge Yoon Won-mook of the Seoul Central District Court issued arrest warrants for both the woman in her 20s, identified as Ms. Yang, accused of extortion, and Mr. Yong, accused of attempted extortion, citing concerns about flight and destruction of evidence.
