Actor Joo Won has transformed into a rookie firefighter. The movie ‘Firefighter’ is set against the backdrop of the 2001 Hongje-dong fire disaster. It tells the story of firefighters deployed with the goal of extinguishing the fire and rescuing everyone, even in harsh conditions.
Joo Won plays the role of ‘Chul-woong,’ a rookie firefighter who struggles to handle equipment properly in life-and-death situations. He loses Yong-tae (played by Kim Min-jae), whom he cherished like an older brother, in a fire. Although he falls into deep guilt, he tries to overcome it with the help and encouragement of his colleagues.
The character stills capture his anxious gaze and the spirit of a rookie firefighter.

As Chul-woong gains various experiences, he gradually earns the qualifications to save lives. Joo Won revealed that his perception of firefighters changed while preparing for the movie. He shared, “When I was young, I just thought firefighters were cool. As an adult, I forgot about them.
After reading the script, I began to think more about the dedication and hard work of firefighters whenever I hear a passing siren.” ‘Firefighter’ will be released in theaters on the 4th of next month.
