Kim Moon-soo's Presidential Candidacy and Intensifying Conflict with the People Power Party
The conflict surrounding the unification between Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, and the party leadership is intensifying. A general meeting attended by Kim lasted less than 20 minutes before it broke down.
Within some factions of the ruling party, there are voices opposing Kim's registration as a presidential candidate. In response, Kim's camp has warned of strong measures to hold them legally and politically accountable.

Candidate Kim Moon-soo attended a general meeting at the National Assembly on the 9th. While the meeting began cordially, tension quickly filled the room.
Party leadership, including the Non-Standing Committee Chair Kwon Young-se and the National Assembly Floor Leader Kwon Sung-dong, welcomed Kim with a standing ovation. However, Kim criticized the party leadership, stating, "They are utilizing illegal means to oust me and make independent candidate Han Duck-soo the presidential candidate."
Following Kim's remarks, the atmosphere in the room cooled rapidly. Chair Kwon expressed his disappointment by leaving the meeting, and Kim subsequently exited as well. During this process, some lawmakers exchanged heated words, leading to confrontations.
Floor Leader Kwon stated, "The reason the party requested unification was because the candidate made those statements himself," shifting the blame.
Secretary General Lee Yang-soo held a press conference to refute Kim's claims regarding the formation of the campaign committee and the appointment of the Secretary General. As the presidential candidate and the Non-Standing Committee Chair publicly clash, internal conflicts within the party have reached a peak.

Within the ruling party, there are also voices opposing Kim Moon-soo's registration as a presidential candidate.
The registration of a presidential candidate requires the party leader's official seal, yet Chair Kwon indicated that he is not considering this. However, the party has already conducted a survey on the pros and cons of unification and received over 80% support for "unification before the 11th."
Additionally, they are currently conducting election-related surveys and general opinion polls regarding the primary rules for Kim Moon-soo and Han Duck-soo. A national committee has been convened to prepare practically for candidate replacement.
Kim Moon-soo's camp maintains that these actions are completely illegal.
Former Supreme Council member Kim Jae-won criticized the situation as a "poll to forcibly oust Kim," stating, "It is unfair and illegal as it was not even communicated." He further warned, "We will utilize all legal and political means to ensure accountability."
