The movie 'Opposition' (Director Hwang Byeong-guk) has achieved the highest box office score among this year's releases. 'Opposition' premiered on the 16th of last month. According to the Integrated Computer Network of Movie Theater Ticket Sales by the Korean Film Council, as of 12 a.m. on the 13th, the film has attracted a cumulative audience of 3,015,384 viewers.
It surpassed 'Mickey 17' (Director Bong Joon-ho), which garnered attention as Bong's first new film in about 5 years and 8 months since 'Parasite,' attracting 2.96 million viewers.
'Opposition' has overcome the limitations of its 'restricted' rating and continues to maintain the number one spot at the box office even in its fifth week since release, expecting to surpass 'Mission: Impossible' (Director Christopher McQuarrie) in terms of box office revenue.
The film is a crime action story involving a drug mastermind broker from the Republic of Korea, a prosecutor aspiring to rise higher, and a detective fully committed to eradicating crime.
Kang Ha-neul plays Lee Kang-soo, a member of the opposition. Yoo Hae-jin portrays the ambitious prosecutor Koo Kwan-hee. Park Hae-joon takes on the role of passionate detective Oh Sang-jae. It has received praise as the 'Inside Men of the Drug Trade.'
Meanwhile, the 'Opposition' team will hold a special ticket price event from the 14th to the 16th as a thank-you for its success. A stage greeting event will take place on the 18th at locations like Lotte Cinema World Tower.
