Kim Seon-woo, nominated as the first Minister of Gender Equality and Family under the Lee Jae-myung government, expressed her determination to actively participate in the confirmation hearing on the 23rd.
In a statement released through the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, nominee Kim stated, "I will flow toward lower places, more challenging locations, and places where there is more pain," revealing her conviction.
Recognized as an expert in the health and welfare sector, Kim promised, "When someone wants to share their today and tomorrow with me, I will lean down on my knees to listen carefully," and added, "I will pour all my efforts into cherishing the words given to me as hope." This reflects her commitment to creating a Ministry of Gender Equality and Family that listens to the voices of the people.

Kim emphasized the importance of implementing policies, saying, "I will give the beloved people hope by saying, 'Tomorrow will be better,' and turn that hope into a certainty called 'policy.'" She particularly noted, "To ensure that 'policies' take root and grow in everyday life, I will dedicate myself sincerely and do my best to create 'pathways.'"
She also mentioned, "At this moment, I will do my utmost to ensure that the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family under the Lee Jae-myung government warmly embraces each and every citizen enduring a harsh life." This demonstrates her intention to promote gender equality policies in a way that genuinely benefits the lives of the people.
Kim Seon-woo has been a member of the Democratic Party since 2016 and has served as a member of the 21st and 22nd National Assembly, addressing key issues such as gender equality, welfare, and low birth rates.

During the 22nd National Assembly, she was recognized for her policy coordination abilities as the opposition party's secretary for the Health and Welfare Committee, leading discussions on the nursing law legislation to achieve bipartisan agreement.
