President Lee Jae-myung Hosts Luncheon for National Merit Holders in Commemoration of National Defense and Veterans Month

On the 27th, President Lee Jae-myung will hold a luncheon at the Blue House for national merit holders.

The Presidential Office announced that this event is organized to express gratitude and respect for those who have dedicated themselves to the country in honor of National Defense and Veterans Month.

The event, themed "National Defense and Veterans Month, Invitation from the President," is expected to be attended by over 160 national merit holders, their families, and heads of veterans' organizations.

The Presidential Office explained that this luncheon is a time to honor the heroes who sacrificed for the country and to reinforce the government's commitment to reward their dedication.

In a previous speech commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Korean War, President Lee Jae-myung expressed regret that "we have not been able to provide sufficient compensation and respect for those who made special sacrifices to protect the Republic of Korea," and promised to explore various ways to ensure more support in the future.

Possibility of Announcing Measures to Expand Support for National Merit Holders

During the Cabinet meeting on the 24th, President Lee Jae-myung also instructed to prepare sufficient compensation measures for national merit holders. Consequently, there is growing interest in the possibility that the government will announce specific follow-up measures during this luncheon.

The Ministry of Veterans Affairs and related departments are reported to have been reviewing various policies to enhance the respect and welfare of national merit holders.

Veterans' policies are critical issues directly linked to the identity of the nation, and attention is focused on what changes the Lee Jae-myung administration will bring to support national merit holders.

This luncheon is expected to go beyond being just an event and will serve as a catalyst for raising societal awareness of the sacrifices made by national merit holders, as well as spreading the culture of veterans' affairs. It is evaluated as a symbolic event revealing the government's determination to strengthen respect and support for national merit holders in light of National Defense and Veterans Month.
