The lawmaker who returned the election congratulations ‘I’ received from Yoon, repackaging it as “Congratulations on your dismissal.”

Park Eun-jung, a member of the Justice Reform Party, gifts 'Congratulations on Impeachment Orchids' to former President Yoon Suk-yeol

Park Eun-jung, a member of the Justice Reform Party, rewrapped the congratulatory orchids she received from former President Yoon Suk-yeol after her election victory last year into 'Congratulations on Impeachment Orchids' to return them.

On the 11th, Park Eun-jung posted on her social media, "Many citizens suffered due to Yoon Suk-yeol's chaos (亂)," and added, "The orchids are not to blame. I raised them well, waiting for this day. I'm returning them as 'Congratulations on Impeachment Orchids,'" along with a photo.

The photo shared by Park includes an orchid pot with the inscriptions 'Member of Parliament Park Eun-jung' and 'Congratulations on Impeachment.' Last year, Park received congratulatory orchids from former President Yoon, which had the inscriptions 'President Yoon Suk-yeol' and 'Congratulations on your election as a Member of Parliament.'

Park's post was made public around 5:23 PM on the 11th, just as former President Yoon moved out of the presidential residence to his private residence. This appears to be a response to the orchids sent by former President Yoon containing the message 'Congratulations on your election as a Member of Parliament' shortly after last year's general election.

At that time, the leader of the Justice Reform Party stated, "I politely decline the congratulatory orchids from a president who unprecedentedly abuses veto power for personal gain," and encouraged fellow party members to refuse similar gifts.

Notably, on May 31 of last year, Park voiced on social media, "The orchids are not to blame," and promised to return them to the presidential office as a congratulatory gift when President Yoon Suk-yeol steps down.

However, following the impeachment of former President Yoon much earlier than anticipated by Park, the orchids were returned to him before they could be nurtured for even a year.

On another note, Park Eun-jung, during the Moon Jae-in administration on January 23, 2020, was appointed as the inspection officer by then-Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae while serving as a deputy chief prosecutor at the Southern District Prosecutors' Office in Seoul, handling inspections related to Prosecutor General Yoon Suk-yeol.

After the election of former President Yoon, she was removed amid allegations of leading 'politically motivated inspections' and later entered politics, receiving the number one spot on the proportional representation list of the Justice Reform Party and being elected in the 22nd general elections.
