A man in his 30s, unable to contain his anger after breaking up with his girlfriend, has been sentenced to prison by the court for indiscriminately assaulting his mother in her 60s.

On the 24th, Head Judge Lee Hyun-joo of the Changwon District Court’s Criminal Division 7 announced that the man, referred to as A, was sentenced to one year in prison on charges of assault against a family member.

According to the prosecution, A is accused of repeatedly hitting his mother B in the face and head with his fists at his residence in the Uichang District of Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, in March.

Investigations revealed that after breaking up with his girlfriend, A vented his anger on his mother, saying, "I couldn't get married because of you. Don't provoke me."

"Because of you, I couldn't get married. Don’t provoke me."

Repeated acts of violence and the court's judgment

It has been revealed that A had committed acts of violence against B the day before this incident.

A became angry when B was cleaning the living room using vinegar and assaulted his mother with his fists and feet, as uncovered during the investigation.

In the ruling, Judge Lee Hyun-joo explained the reasons for the prison sentence, stating, "The defendant repeatedly assaulted the victim, a family member, indiscriminately, and the nature of the crime is particularly bad, and he has not received forgiveness from the victim."

However, the court added, "Taking into consideration that A acknowledges his wrongdoing and is a first-time offender, the sentence was determined."
