SBS-TV's new drama 'The Fiery Priest 2' announces its welcome back. The drama's production team released a teaser poster on the 10th, showcasing the appearances of season 1's main characters: Kim Nam-il (played by Kim Hae-il), Lee Ha-nui (played by Park Kyung-seon), and Kim Sung-kyun (played by Goo Dae-young).
'The Fiery Priest 2' tells the story of the righteous priest 'Kim Hae-il' as he pursues a drug case. Season 1 surpassed a 24% viewership rating, becoming a mega-hit. Returning as a sequel after about five years, writer Park Jae-beom, director Park Bo-ram, along with Kim Nam-gil, Lee Ha-nui, and Kim Sung-kyun, have reunited, promising an exhilarating journey.
The poster was intense from the start. Father Kim Hae-il (played by Kim Nam-gil) stood with his priestly robe fluttering. Prosecutor Park Kyung-seon (played by Lee Ha-nui) and Detective Goo Dae-young (played by Kim Sung-kyun) were also compelling with their piercing gazes. Father Kim Hae-il, with a rosary in hand, exuded a warrior's spirit. Chosen by the pope, he is empowered to enforce justice, confronting evil forces as the special fiery priest 'Bellato.'
Park Kyung-seon scanned her surroundings with a knife in one hand, emanating a complex atmosphere. She is expected to play 'Gomes', a collaborator to Kim Hae-il, sparking the viewers' curiosity. Goo Dae-young also assists Kim Hae-il as a 'Gomes', brandishing a gun with a tense expression, heightening expectations from the unique bromance established in the previous season.
The poster's tagline was impressive: "Bellato's mission, let's begin," indicating a move from Gadam District (Season 1) to Busan, promising even more powerful justice dispensation. According to the production team, "Kim Hae-il receives a new mission as 'Bellato.' The challenges of dismantling an evil cartel with his steadfast Gomes in Season 1 will be addressed."
They also added, "Kim Nam-gil, Lee Ha-nui, and Kim Sung-kyun show seamless chemistry, as if the 5-year hiatus never occurred. It will certainly be a work that meets the long-awaited expectations."
Meanwhile, 'The Fiery Priest 2' is set to premiere following 'The Judge from Hell' on the 8th of next month at 10 PM.
