SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama ‘The Fiery Priest 2’ concluded with a thrilling final, featuring a satisfying ending of justice and retribution. SBS-TV aired the final episode on the 27th.

According to Nielsen Korea, the episode garnered a viewer rating of 10.9% nationwide and 10.5% in the metropolitan area. It ended on a high note, ranking first in viewership among shows aired during the same time slot. The highest rating on that day soared to 12.6%, securing the top spot in weekly mini-series ratings for five consecutive weeks.

In the episode, Kim Hae-il (played by Kim Nam-gil), Park Kyung-sun (played by Lee Ha-nui), and Koo Dae-young (played by Kim Sung-kyun) brought villains Nam Doo-han (played by Seo Hyun-woo) and Kim Hong-sik (played by Sung Joon) to justice, overcoming challenges to present an ending of good triumphing over evil.

Kim Hae-il’s closing line was weighty: “When injustice becomes law, justice becomes a duty. It was a miracle that ordinary people did not remain silent to injustice but willingly performed their duty.”

The possibility of a third season was hinted. Kim Hae-il appeared before a group about to film a T-room video, saying, “Get ready for a ticket to hell,” and threw a punch. An epilogue unfolded where he was offered a trip to the Vatican.

‘The Fiery Priest 2’ showcased the original ‘cider’ drama taste, delivering thrills with rapid development. It provided catharsis through a narrative where ordinary people band together to take down a massive drug cartel.

The show brought joy to viewers with unique and experimental satirical direction, employing dynamic action as well as musical scenes seldom used in Korean dramas. It became renowned as an acting powerhouse.

Kim Nam-gil seamlessly transitioned between action, comedy, and seriousness, anchoring the drama. Lee Ha-nui fearlessly transformed, and Kim Sung-kyun brought laughter with his delightful banter.

The production team expressed, “We sincerely thank you for your continued support. We would be delighted if the drama served as a catalyst for awakening the mission of a ‘fiery human’ in the viewers’ minds.”
