“The failed presidential candidate Han Duck-soo… ‘Humbly accept the people’s opinions, hope for Kim’s victory’”

Rejecting the candidate replacement vote, they immediately accept… "Sincerely wish for the party's victory"

As the People Power Party has made the final decision to maintain candidate Kim Moon-soo for the presidential election, former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, who was mentioned as a replacement candidate, has expressed his intention to accept the results.

Shortly after the announcement of the party members' voting results on the evening of the 10th, Han’s campaign released a written briefing stating, "Candidate Han Duck-soo humbly accepts the will of the people and party members."

He added, "I sincerely hope that candidate Kim Moon-soo and the People Power Party will achieve victory in this presidential election," and expressed gratitude for the attention, support, criticism, and feedback received up until now.

The attempt to replace the candidate was thwarted just a day later… Candidate Kim Moon-soo's qualifications restored immediately

Earlier that day, from 10 AM to 9 PM, the People Power Party conducted an emergency vote via ARS for all party members. The agenda for the vote was whether to cancel candidate Kim Moon-soo's qualifications and replace him with candidate Han Duck-soo.

The party leadership planned to follow a candidate replacement procedure through the National Committee and the Emergency Response Committee on the 11th if the approval rate exceeded half; however, as the final voting results did not surpass the majority, the motion was rejected.

As a result, candidate Kim Moon-soo regained his qualifications as a presidential candidate in just one day, and the Emergency Response Committee Chair Kwun Young-se expressed his resignation in light of the responsibility. Alongside internal criticism of the party leadership's chaotic response, a debate regarding the legitimacy of the attempt to replace the candidate is expected to continue.
