The Actual Size of ‘Lee Jae-myung’s Bodyguard’ That Seems Like It Could Fold Terrorists in Half

"It seems like he would give up his seat if we run into each other at the gym…" Lee Jae-myung's hefty bodyguard

A netizen left a comment on social media alongside a photo of the bodyguard protecting Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, stating, "If a terrorist rushes in, it seems like he could fold their spine and smash them to bits."

Starting around the 17th, there has been a surge of interest on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) regarding the impressive appearance of this candidate's strong bodyguard.

Among the numerous security personnel, this particular bodyguard stands out with a sharp impression and arms thicker than his head, catching attention. In particular, his chest seems so sturdy that it could withstand bullets, garnering admiration.

Upon seeing this, some netizens reacted with comments such as "An aura similar to Ma Dong-seok," "His muscles seem like they could burst through his suit," and "He seems like a live-action version of the vigilante Cho Heon."

According to the Democratic Party of Korea, this candidate, under the protection of such bodyguards, continues to campaign while wearing bulletproof vests weighing nearly 3 kilograms in response to ongoing terror threats.

Moreover, police and special forces are conducting anti-terror surveillance from nearby buildings and rooftops. Additionally, special equipment, including bomb detection dogs, frequency detectors, and jamming devices to prepare for drone threats, have been deployed at the campaign site.

Kang Hoon-sik, the head of the Democratic Party's Central Election Countermeasure Headquarters, stated during a press conference on the 16th, "There are significant concerns within the party regarding the candidate's personal safety," adding that "we plan to prepare and install bulletproof glass barriers early next week."

On the 19th, in preparation for a concentrated campaign at Yongsan Station Square in Seoul, the candidate installed bulletproof glass barricades surrounding three sides of his campaign vehicle's podium.

The bulletproof glass barrier set up at the candidate's podium resembles the security measures chosen by U.S. President Donald Trump shortly after he faced a gun assault. This marks the first use of bulletproof glass barriers by a presidential candidate in the Republic of Korea.

That day, Park Sung-jun, the Democratic Party's floor leader, appeared on KBS Radio's "KBS 1 Radio Current Affairs Show," stating, "Hasn't there been a recurring issue of terror in our country's elections? Therefore, we must be thoroughly prepared for security and safety."
