Letters of Gratitude from Elementary Students to Wildfire Fighters
In the wake of the recent devastating wildfires in the Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan regions, elementary students have sent heartfelt handwritten letters of thanks to the wildfire fighters who bravely undertook firefighting operations, bringing a touching moment.
According to the Forest Service on the 15th, a total of 184 fifth-grade students from Daegu Bisle Elementary School sent handwritten letters directly to the Central Forest Disaster Situation Room on the 9th.

These letters provided great comfort to the wildfire fighters who battled against the flames.
The children's letters expressed sincere gratitude for the efforts of the firefighters who risked their lives to combat the wildfires.
Ten-year-old Jang Hae-seo wrote, "These days, wildfires are spreading a lot, and I’m always thankful for putting out the fires. I think it must be scary, worrisome, and difficult, but I feel like it’s amazing that you have this job," expressing her appreciation.

Another student from the same school, Shin Seung-ah (10), also stated, "If it weren’t for the wildfire fighters, the wildfires would have spread more and the damages would have increased. I thank you again for risking your life to put out the fire, and I will support you every day. Thank you once again."

The letters, filled with pure hearts, became a great source of strength for the fighters who faced difficulties on the fire grounds.
Kim Woo-young, a member of the special wildfire disaster response team from the Southern Regional Forest Service, who was deployed to the firefighting scene in Gyeongbuk, remarked, "I was greatly moved by the children's support and thank you letters."
He added, "Having received their warm messages, I will work with even greater responsibility for the safety of the citizens."
The Forest Service mobilized a total of 56,555 personnel and 1,180 helicopters to extinguish the wildfires that began on March 21 in the Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan regions.
