Mother and daughter both dead… "Faced an accident on their way back from the hospital"

The death toll from the jump incident at a commercial building in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, has risen to three, including a mother and daughter.

According to the Gwangju Police Station on the 8th, a woman in her 40s, identified as A, who was transferred to the hospital for treatment after the accident the day before, ultimately passed away in the afternoon.

A was reportedly transported to a nearby hospital in cardiac arrest immediately after the incident but did not regain consciousness before her passing.

With this, the total number of fatalities from this incident has reached three, including A's teenage daughter, B, and the jumper, C (18).

Teenager jumps from the rooftop, hitting three pedestrians

The incident occurred around 2:36 PM on the 7th when C jumped from the rooftop of a 13-story commercial building in Gwangju.

According to police investigations, C went up to the rooftop after receiving treatment at the psychiatric hospital located in the building on the same day.

C, who fell, struck A and her daughter, along with a man in his 20s, D, who were walking on the ground. B was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the accident, and C, also in a state of cardiac arrest, was transported to the hospital but died the same evening.

D suffered injuries to his shoulder and back but has been confirmed to be out of life-threatening condition.

Jumped without a note… Police investigation ongoing

At the time of the incident, A was confirmed to be holding a medication bag with B's name on it. Police believe that the mother and daughter encountered the tragedy while returning home after a hospital appointment.

C was known to have been receiving treatment for symptoms of depression. As of now, no suicide note has been found, and the specific circumstances surrounding the jump have not been clarified.
