Teenager caught after stealing 100 million won in cash from a foreign car… “I really got a lesson.”

Teenager Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Over 100 Million Won in Cash from High-End Foreign Car

A teenager who stole a bundle of cash exceeding 100 million won from a high-end foreign car has been sentenced to prison by the court.

On the 11th, the Gwangju District Court's Criminal Division 4 Presiding Judge Kim Tae-kyun announced that the defendant A (18), who was indicted for special theft and other charges, received a prison sentence of six months to three months.

A is accused of entering a parked foreign car in an apartment parking lot in Jung-gu, Daejeon, at approximately 3:46 AM on October 12 of last year and stealing a large sum of cash stored inside the vehicle. It was investigated that he stole a total of 100 million won, including seven checks worth 10 million won and thirty-eight checks worth 1 million won.

Total cash amounting to 100 million won

In addition, A is also facing charges of stealing several high-end designer bags and additional cash worth millions of won while roaming underground parking lots four times during the same month.

According to the investigation, A primarily targeted vehicles that were not securely locked to commit his crimes.

Court's Judgment on Juvenile Offender

Judge Kim Tae-kyun noted in the ruling, "Considering that the defendant admitted to the crime, most of the stolen items were returned to the victims, and that the defendant is a minor," he made his decision. However, he also mentioned that he considered "the fact that the defendant has a history of being punished multiple times for similar offenses."

In particular, the court emphasized that "given that the defendant continued to commit other offenses even after the police investigation, it seems necessary for him to have time to reflect seriously on his past mistakes." This judgment appears to have led to the decision to impose a prison sentence despite him being a juvenile.

This incident serves as a reminder of the seriousness of juvenile crime and the importance of vehicle security. It illustrates the necessity of always locking car doors and being vigilant about securing high-value items or cash stored inside the vehicle.
