20s woman attacked by a teenage boy in a random assault
Recently, CCTV footage of a 20s woman being randomly assaulted has been released, causing shock. The perpetrator is a teenage boy with whom she had no prior acquaintance, and the victim is experiencing severe mental distress.
On the 19th of last month, a teenage boy, referred to as A, is accused of suddenly attacking a woman in her 20s, identified as B, while she was walking on an alley in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.

The CCTV footage released by SBS shows A unexpectedly rushing at B and punching her in the face and head, continuing to assault her even after she fell to the ground.
A continued the attack by knocking B down and kicking her until bystanders intervened.
A student residing in a nearby university dormitory reported hearing B’s cries for help, "Please save me!"

After receiving a report, the police dispatched officers to the scene and apprehended A as a suspected offender. A stated that he had many grievances against society and wanted to assault anyone.
B has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and is suffering from mental distress.
B said, "Just seeing a boy around the same age as the perpetrator makes me hyperventilate and anxious," adding, "I moved quickly and have quit everything now," as she described her struggles in daily life.

Additionally, B raised concerns, stating that "the perpetrator A is excessively granted the right to defense due to being a minor, while my access to information as the victim is restricted."
She added that when she called the police to ask, "I want to know the motive behind the perpetrator hitting me," the police replied, "We cannot disclose that as this is under investigation," leading her to feel that "the perpetrator seems to be better protected than I am."
Meanwhile, the police discovered a history of mental illness in A and took emergency hospitalization measures. The prosecution has reportedly requested the probation office to investigate A's psychological state for an accurate disposition.
